1. Bhringraj – The unbeatable herb, healing a lot of problems since ancient times

Bhringraj means “king of herbs”, and there are various reasons behind its name. Bhringraj is not only known for promoting hair growth but prevents balding as well. It is also very effective against premature greying. You can find this powerful herb in both powdered as well as oil forms. You will need

  • A bunch of Bhringraj leaves or 5 to 6 tbsp Bhringraj Powder

Method to follow

  • Add some water to the laves and prepare a consistent paste. If you are unable to get Bhringraj leaves, use 5 to 6 tbsp of dried Bhringraj powder instead.
  • Apply the paste thoroughly on your scalp and roots of the hair.
  • Leave for half an hour, and then wash off with regular shampoo.

2. Amla – The Indian Gooseberry

Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 tbsp Amla powder
  • 5 to 6 tbsp fresh water

Process

  • Mix amla powder and water in a bowl to prepare a fine, smooth paste.
  • Divide your hairs into four to five equal parts, and apply the paste from roots to the ends of hair.
  • Wash off with your regular shampoo after half an hour.
  • Repeat this process twice or thrice for four-five weeks and get thick, strong, and beautiful hairs.

NOTE:

If you can get fresh Amla fruits, that’s even better. Extract the juice from fresh Amla fruit and add shikakai powder with warm water for even better results.

3. Neem

Who doesn’t know this easily available, immensely affordable, yet very powerful natural remedy? It has been used for so many years to treat skin and hair problems. Regular application on the scalp can improve the blood circulation and can give much-needed strength to the hair roots, and in result, elevates hair growth. If you are struggling with dandruff and /or lice, neem is the best bet. Some scalp conditions like eczema, dandruff, excessive sebum, and psoriasis, etc. are also responsible for unhealthy and weak hairs. Neem alone can fight all these conditions and can give the much-needed nourishment to your hair.

You will need

  • A handful of freshly-picked neem leaves.
  • 2 cups of freshwater.

Steps to follow

  • Add neem leaves to the water, and then boil for 20 minutes.
  • Allow some time to cool down.
  • Once the neem-water solution is cold enough, strain the liquid.
  • Take the neem-infused liquid in a different container and keep aside.
  • Wash your hair after having a bath.
  • Avoid washing your hair with any shampoo or conditioner after using neem-infused water.
  • Follow these steps thrice a week for a few weeks and notice the difference.
  • Alternatively, if you don’t have fresh neem leaves, you can use dried neem powder with water for the same results.
4. Ritha (Soap Nuts)

Also known as Soap Nuts, Ritha is a natural shampoo and being used by women for hundreds of years. Ingredients you need

  • A handful of Ritha
  • 2 cups of freshwater

What do you need to do?

  • Leave Ritha in 2 cups of water overnight.
  • Boil the right for 15 minutes the next morning without changing the water.
  • Keep it aside for a few minutes and strain in a separate container.
  • Wash your hair thoroughly with half of the Ritha-infused water.
  • Massage the hair for 5 to 20 minutes, and then wash off with normal water.
  • Massage again with the remaining solution. You should notice the formation of light lather on your hair.

5. Shikakai

“Shikakai” is a Sanskrit word which means “fruit for hair”. When mixed with water, the fruit converts into a shampoo-like lather and becomes an amazing hair cleanser. 6. Ashwagandha

  • 2 tbsp dried Brahmi powder
  • 2 tbsp dried Ashwagandha powder
  • 2 tbsp dried Amla powder
  • ½ cup plain yogurt

Steps you should follow

  • Mix all the ingredients to prepare a consistent, smooth paste.
  • Divide your hair into four-five equal sections and apply the paste thoroughly from roots to tips of the hair.
  • Once the hair is completely covered, leave it for at least one hour.
  • Rinse your hair with lukewarm water using your regular shampoo.
  • Repeat the process thrice a week to get thick, healthy, shiny, and dandruff-free hair.

TIP:

You can also add fresh leaves of Brahmi to boiling water. Add neem and Tulsi also for greater effects. After boiling water for 10-15 minutes with all the herbs, leave overnight. Strain the water early in the morning, and then wash your hair.
